Subject: [ihlanguage] Persian Language

Dear Sir/Madam:

I would like to bring to your attention that the correct word to refer to
the official written and spoken language of the Iranian/Persian people is
"Persian" not "Farsi" in English as it is incorrectly stated on your website
"The Voice of Iran: Mohammad Reza Shajarian & Googoosh: Iran's Daughter
http://www.symphonyspace.org/genres/eventPage.php?genreId=2&eventId=1214".
Please be advised that "Farsi" does not have any background in English and
its usage misrepresents the language. Please be kind enough and make proper
corrections and use the word "Persian" instead of "Farsi" in your future
articles.

To further substantiate my claim, I refer you to one of Iranian language and
history masters Dr. Ehsan Yarshater, a professor at Colombia University and
the editor of Encyclopedia Iranica http://www.iranica.com/ who has stated
this important fact in his Encyclopedia.

In addition, please check out the Iranian Languages website
http://iranianlanguages.com/, which has plenty of information about the
Persian Language.

Moreover, all American well respected universities refer to the language as
Persian. Please see the following websites.
