Dear editor @ the BBC:

I would like to bring to your attention that the correct word to refer
to the official written and spoken language of the Iranian people is
"Persian" not "Farsi" in English as it is incorrectly stated on your
news website "BBC to launch TV channel for Iran
http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/entertainment/6037832.stm".

Please be advised that "Farsi" does not have any background in English
and its usage misrepresents the language. Please be kind enough and
make proper corrections and use the word "Persian" instead of "Farsi"
in your future articles.

To further substantiate my claim, I refer you to one of Iranian
language and history masters Dr. Ehsan Yarshater, a professor at
Colombia University and the editor of Encyclopedia Iranica
http://www.iranica.com/ who has stated this important fact in his
Encyclopedia.

In addition, please check out the Iranian Languages website
http://iranianlanguages.com/, which has plenty of information about
the Persian Language.

I also refer you to your own Persian website "BBC Persian
http://www.bbc.co.uk/persian/".

Best Regards,
