The Iranian Academy of Persian Language & Literature (IAPLL) bulletin, No. 95, Vol. 8

April-May 2004

(The academy's web address is: http://www.PersianAcademy.ir )

The IAPLL Council held its 265th session on the 7th of Ordibehesht (26th of April, 2004) chaired by Dr. Haddad Adel.

At the meeting, Dr. Maasumi Hamedani noted that both "Persian" and "Farsi" are often used interchangeably in other languages to refer to the language of Iran. He, therefore, requested the Council to clearly enunciate a position regarding which term should be used.

Speaking on behalf of IAPLL, Dr. Adel declared that the Council opposes the use of any term other than "Persian."
