Artifact Preservation

An e-mail to Iran Heritage site, August 12, 2003

Hello,

I was just reading about Iran Heritage on the site of Iranian.com and I completely agree that all the Iranians treasures abroad should be given back to the Iranians as long as they take good care of them.

I am married to an Iranian and we just came back from a trip to Iran where we visited Shiraz and all the surrounding area: Persepolis, Cyrus Tomb...
My husband and I were completely shocked to see how badly the historical sites in Iran were preserved by the Iranian themselves. IT IS A SHAME!!!!
Anybody can walk through the ruins, touch, smoke or even steal a piece of those precious treasures without any problems. We visited a few sites where there were no guardian at all; there was garbage everywhere and nobody really seems to care. It is such a pity.

So, I wonder if treasures of the glorious Persian past are returned to Iran, will they really be in good hands????
